Summer '07 Memories
I found a mussel shell
floating, crushed
in the glittering tidal wave.
Fingers plunging into the sand-
It is broken, fragile,
its edges jagged.
Rough brown on the surface,
The rocks have chipped away
reavealing
smooth whorls of radiance
In all shades of white
and purple
and gold.
Through its ruin it has begun to become
Something
tempered to pearl.
