At Home we Are
At home we are, the crowd is cheering
In this softball game, we're close to winning
I'm on deck, and my teammate's at bat
Strike 1, 2, 3 she's out! Oh snap!
My breath becomes faster and deeper
Followed by a heartbeat quicker and heavier
Batter up! The umpire screeches
Step by step I walk by inches
Nervous sweat builds upon my head
I would rather wish I were dead
I build my courage overlooking the diamond
I step in the batter's box with a homer on my mind
My stance is set, ready for the pitch
She winds up and delivers without a twitch
Here I swing, but a miss it is
"Strike one!" The ump says
My hands are clammy
Adrenaline pumping through my body
My stance is set, ready for the pitch
She winds up and delivers without a twitch
Away I swing hard and mighty
There the ball goes, soaring through the sky
Here's the moment I walk the bases and say goodbye
