Slumbering Peace
I went to the river to rid of my tears
And share them with the lake of all of my fears
I sat on the bank until my head cleared
And stared at my face that the lake had mirrored
Sensual scents surrounded my sulking soul
Enticing my senses to escape the hole
They had burrowed away in, cowardly sin
Leaving my instincts, incredibly thin
A symphony of sounds travels the night air
All maestroed by crickets who sing out with flare
Weeping willows dance in the whispering breeze
Caressing their limbs with gentleness and ease
Farther in the distance, a great Heron posed
Balanced on one leg, as he peacefully dozed
Grandmother Moon made her way across the sky
Bringing the stars out of their hiding and shy
I went to the river to rid of my tears
And share them with the lake of all of my fears
Of all of the things I had cried here in mourn
The beauty of my lake, before me, was born.
