Couldn't Live
A few splashes there, and some laughs in the air,
That was all we really had planned.
But when you fell in the creek, halfway past your knees,
I reached out for your slender hand.
Sunlight danced on your skin as you pulled me in
Then we laughed till our faces turned blue.
It was then, I remember, on that day in September,
I knew I couldn't live without you.
Daylight faded into night, you said it was alright
There is still plenty we haven't done.
That was when you grabbed me, smiling so sweetly,
And you told me I was number one.
You put your hand into mine, figured all this was a sign
That you felt the way that I did too.
It was then, I remember, on that day in September,
I knew I couldn't live without you.
We headed back to your house, just as quiet as a mouse,
Didn't want to get your daddy mad.
We both let out little sighs, as we said our quick good-byes,
And I thought about the day we had.
As I started to walk home, with my thoughts and all alone
I realized that our love was true.
It was then, I remember, on that day in September,
I knew I wouldn't live without you.
