Courage is not a lack of fear, it is acting despite the fear.

I haven’t seen you for years,
And you ask me how I’ve been.
If I answered you with tears,
What would you do then?
But instead I answer fine,
And return the question because it’s kind.
I make sure I do not cross the line,
So my tears are hard to find.
But I would like to know,
If I had replied that I wasn’t okay,
Would it be compassion you would show,
Or would you just try to get away?

This is one of the poems I was inspired to write when I noticed old friends who ran into each other at the store. It was always the same dialogue, "Hey, how are you?" "oh, fine, you?" "i'm doing good," and they go on their way. I always wondered, what if the answer wasn't always fine or good?

Okay this is great on so many levels in so many aspects, you did a great job at keeping the rhyme but not getting lost in it. That's talent. Awesome poem, and now you got me wondering the same thing:P
