in the parking lot
I sat in the car for hours,
inhaling and exhaling dry heat.
I cleaned out my glovebox and found all of these mapquest directions to places I don't remember ever going,
but I know I've gone there,
to all of them.
That means each sheet that I don't remember is a person that I have forgotten,
someone I met and someone that left just as soon as they came.
A lot of people saw me laying in my car,
and a lot of them just stared.
I wondered what they were thinking,
how many of them have been me before, and how many cars in that parking lot had people just like me in them at that very moment.
I realize probably none of them did, but I still wondered.
