\"Knowledge is power. Power corrupts. So study hard and be evil.\"

You remind me of a cold winter night
When the moon hangs in the sky amongst thousands
Upon thousands of tiny, crystal lights
That shine just like the tears you cry
Lonely and sad, yet right

The wolves’ howls echoing through frigid air
Tell the world that, for now, you rest from your hunt
So they’re free to roam about, if they dare
That once more they’ll be unbound, if just for awhile
Lucky them; freedom is rare

The icicles clinging to this cold, dead place
Are your claws twisting a cage around my heart
I know you have felt this, this sickly embrace
From another, long ago, from a shadow of your past
A shadow with a cold, dead face

The cruel, white snow encasing barren land
Suffocates the flowers before they take their first breath
Like you imprisoning me under your hand
Hoping, almost praying, that I will bloom for you alone
But for a flower, your world is just dry sand

Frostbite nipping playfully with a deadly chill
Resembling a harmless little arctic cub on icy, crystal wings
That brings death amidst the wounded’s cries, so shrill
You looked so harmless that I tried to help you, hold you close
Little did I know you were out to kill

Despite these things, I lie to myself
Lies I should have tucked away
So they’d be fading now, on a dusty shelf
But I haven’t because I still dream
Because I still wonder
Wonder if you didn’t mean to wound
Wonder if you weren’t out to kill
Wonder if your wolves just meant
To sing a harmless song
Wonder if you’ve really loved me all along

Because once upon a time I heard you say
You loved me though I was a creature of the day
That each and every tear you cried
Always dried
When you thought of me
That I was your bright, shining light
And forever was the most beautiful sight
In your eyes
That I would always be your sweetheart
That we would never, ever part
Even after death

But, despite all these things you said
You still put up the icy bars
That have ripped my heart to shreds
Because you feared I’d leave

Since not one person in your life
Has ever stayed by your side
They might as well have taken an icy knife
And drawn out bright red scars
It would have been kinder than to mar
Your soul

Still I wish you’d trusted me to stay
Wish you knew I’d never go away
Because, despite all the things you’ve done
Despite your sadistic ways of having fun
Even though you have treated me wrong
Though you’ve never really tried to be strong
Regardless that you’ve learned to kill
I know that you love me still

And I love you too
