A Love, Torn
Once upon a summer sun, two children fell in love,
And each thought of the other, "It's an angel from above!"
Their love grew strong; their love grew bold; their love grew deep and wide,
And each thought of the other, "The make my heart swell inside!"
But then a scandal, both in fault, drove the two apart,
And each thought of the other, "Why did they disregard my heart?"
Once children, they were now mature; the hurt had made them old,
And each thought of the other, "It's their fault my heart is cold."
Now, Love was torn; it felt their pain; it cried their bitter tears,
And so made each think of the other, "I'm still in love, despite my fears."
So, aged in years, they sought each other, alas! to no avail,
And each with dying breath thought, "What made our once strong passion fail?"
