Opening Night
Glimmering lights flooding London,
Curtain gliding across
The blackened, nicked, stage.
Excitement crackles throughout
The theater.
Quivering voices
Slice the air,
Growing stronger every second
Until
They ring loud and clear.
Music booms as I stride,
Nervously,
Drawing in courage from
The bustle ,around.
My voice shakes
As I recite my lines
With the grace of
A freight train.
I smile still.
At our final bow, the curtain draws,
Ending the night.
Opening night.
