Winter Drought MAG
Record temperatures,
unknown to winter,
perch precariously
on the meteorologist's map.
The weather man steps back,
astounded.
The shape of the country,
hardly visible
under a giant green stripe.
The sun looks down
upon green grass,
shimmering
after each warm winter breeze.
The trees stand triumphantly
spreading their branches,
buds begin to blossom,
soon to be
botanical masterpieces.
However, the people are affected
in different ways.
Too tired to sleep,
too hungry to eat.
Is this winter?
They realize
they must prepare
for the harsh and cold
summer ahead.
