Barrel Race
Clang!
The gate opens
My horse gallops
Toward the first barrel
The wind swooshes past
We go around
Next the second barrel
Faster than the wind
The cheering of the crowd
Grows louder
The final barrel
Stands alone
Charging forward, twisting around
My horse and I are one
Faster than lighting, we gallop back
Hooves thudding against the ground
Then come to a halt
The announcer shouts out my time
The crowd roars louder than ever before
But I am not there
Instead, I am alone
With my horse
At night, out in the field
Listening to crickets chirp
Imagining a perfect race
