Everyday someone goes through something new
and no one around them has a clue
the things they hide deep inside
will never be known

the things we are afraid to admit or say out loud
will be buried with us one way or another
we all have a little shell around our heart
some thicker than others
it’s what keeps us going through the day
or makes us cry ourselves to sleep

So much is buried inside
there are things you won’t allow yourself to think
then there are the things you will never forget
but try and not remember
because it brings too much pain

Everyday someone is hiding something new
and everyday the shield is working
it knows that sometimes it needs to let people in
even thought it may break into a million pieces
it always has the strength
to learn from what happened
and reshape itself.
