Love's Traitorous Cry
My heart does break
to see you here,
Why have you come?
My head just lays here,
My pillow is a rock.
The tortures I have been subjected to
Are worse than any lie;
Come, you, no closer,
Or surely you shall die!
My captors, yes, oh here they are;
My life's fire goes out by day.
For there is no escape from here,
If they catch you,
You will also die...
And then my heart will bleed and cry.
So run, my love, and do not weep,
For in your chest does my heart beat.
