Good Bye Old Friend

It was a long ride we had together,
17 years, 164 days, 11 hours, and 23 minutes.
Your eyes still sparkled like when I first saw you,
But you knew the end was nearing.
The lumps on your side made it hard to walk,
Your ribs stuck out of your side,
But your tail still wagged like you were 3 years old.
No one wanted this for you,
But we couldn’t stand to see you in so much pain.
Now you can be free.
Never again will you fall down the stairs,
Or lose sight of home.
Home is where your heart is,
And know you’ll always be in mine.
