Infinte
The idea of the cosmos enthralls me. The idea that an infinitely expanding universe exists outside of the edge of our heliopause is perplexing and humbling to say the least. In the entropy and expansion of our interstellar medium, our planet has about as much relative mass and importance as a microscopic bacterial cell on a grain of sand at the bottom of an ocean whose depths reach to infinity and continue to go deeper. In that mind-boggling amount of space, there has to be more than one planet or planetesimal that has the conditions necessary for harboring and supporting some type of intelligent life. There is for sure more than one grain of sand at the bottom of the ocean that has the same bacteria growing on it. We are not alone.
