so whats the fashion scoop
When I look around my school I basically see everybody wearing the same clothes, the girls, tight pants and a Hollister tank top or sweatshirt, the boys, baggy jeans and a tight-ish shirt. And every once in a while I’ll see a guy in a dress shirt and a tie or with their hair tied back or maybe even tight pants, but almost never in school. And it seems anyone who chooses not to be with the “norm” kind of people, they are deemed with the title of emo, weird or “gay” or so it seems.
A lot of these problems originate from the T.V. I think because I see commercials that talk about “summer fashion”, or I see on the cover of magazines, “the twilight ‘fashion’”, and it this is all in the mainstream so people are probably going to see it, and think “oh, the T.V. says its cool so it must be cool”. Ok so people probably wont think that directly but it sinks into their brains and is stored there until the next time they go shopping and see that in a store and they most likely will think that that is what they want, but that’s what the big companies want you to think. They most likely don’t want you to have your own opinion so they can make you buy their products instead of choosing on your own.
Me personally, my normal attire is black tight pants, a black dress shirt and tie, black converse, and an “arm sock” (you can guess what it is) and because I’m in middle school and the judgmental –ness is at its peak in a normal teens life, I am called emo, gay and girly/girl and I don’t care, they can think what they want, I really only care for what my friends and family have to say, and even then only if their intentions are to do good, not just to tell me they don’t like what I’m wearing. Ask your self if you like what you’re wearing if you do or not, that’s your decision but your opinion is the dominant one in your life, not anyone else’s.
YOU! YES YOU! Don’t be a common stereo type, dress different! Dress in a cabaret style, come to school in a tux, wear the baggiest shirt you have with the tightest pants you have, dye your hair (etc). I’m not saying you have to do these things, just be creative, break out of the main stream clothing industry and shop at a local second hand store or something. Try it out, wear something that will get you weird looks! Just take a look around and see what everyone else is wearing, and dress different.

I think you have a point but the truth is people do want to fit in and be accepted.
People should feel comfortable and accepted wearing what ever they like but it is just not the way it is.
