Greatest Treasure
Frisson is a french word used to describe a feeling of excitement or thrill, and is commonly known as the goosebumps you get from a good song. Over the years of my music career, I’ve always learn to treasure the sense of frisson. The chill down your spine or the feeling in the soul when the final word is said, or when the shredding guitar solo starts to kick off. I personally love metal music. So this feeling in my soul or chill down my spine is what I feel so very often. Whether it's from and emotional song like avenged sevenfold's so far away, or the angry, voice ripping vocals of slipknot's disasterpiece, the feeling I get of frisson comes from both of these.
I used to be one of those teenage guys who only listened to rap music. I would be acting like a troublesome kid towards my parents, and in wouldn't be doing anything for school. I guess if I had to give a reason why I acted like that, I would say that I was trying to find the feeling in my soul, and nothing I tried made me feel that way. I feel like if I hadn't found anything to make me feel that, I might have gone down the wrong road. Metal music was that way that I could feel that chill down my spine.
That one feeling that I felt from the first metal song is what saved me from going down the wrong path. So maybe it was the music that helped, but the feeling in the soul is what I really love. That's why it's my greatest treasure. The feeling that I feel can only be described as a happy, self fulfillment in reality, and these are what makes life worth living, for everyone. That feeling comes from all your treasures in life.
