Myles Eckert, a Gold Star Kid

On just a typical morning, 8 year old Myles Eckert was approaching a Cracker Barrel in Maumee, Ohio.  As he was walking in the parking lot, he spotted a $20 dollar bill lying on the ground and of course, he picked it up like a regular kid and began thinking about what toys or game he was going to buy.

When Myles entered the restaurant, he noticed there was a soldier in there with his family. Instead of doing what a normal kid would do and think nothing of this, Myles wrote a note saying “Dear soldier, my dad was a soldier. He’s in heaven now. I found this $20 bill in the parking lot when we got here. We like to pay it forward in my family. It’s your lucky day! Thank you for your service. Myles Eckert, a gold star kid.” and wrapped the letter around the $20 bill.

When he gave it to the soldier, he was blown away with Myles’ kind act. Myles’ dad was in the army and past away when Myles was only 5 weeks old.  The only memory he has of him is pictures and dog tags. Myles stated that he thought of giving the soldier the money because it reminded him of his dad. The soldier Myles gave the money to said that it turns out Myles gave him a bigger gift than $20 and it proves kindness goes a long way.
