Taking one of her first steps towards grandma. Feeling anxiety that she will lose her balance.

Seeing her reflection with a pointed foot on the window glass reminding me of a ballerina getting ready for class.
Thinking she’ll fall into the black medal chairs of fall down on the patterned floor of brown and khaki squares and rectangles.
Seeing Nikki taking a step forward to a pro ballerina.
Looking at her in a room of four walls that are mirrors teaching little girls, and seeing the reflection of their pointed foot on the mirrors.

My poem comes from a picture i took from my daughter taking one of her first steps.
