On Bathing
The shower has its partisan and many good arguments support their position.
Upon arising in the morning one looks forward to the stimulating effect of cool water sprays. There is the advantage of constantly fresh water is the speed at which the shower can be taken. This is the aspect that fits right into the accelerated haste of shower takers. For the most part they are people constantly conscious of what is yet to be done. In the course of fleeting time, who can spare enogh to sit down a while cleansing themselves.
Bath lovers don’t even have to play defensively; they stand on the positive merits of their cause. In the first place, a bath relieves psychologically by causing one to slow down, forget about everything else, and stop. Bathing can give stimulation or rest; it can be invigorating or relaxing. A bath can become a wholesome tranquilizer and sleep inducer, as in comparison to pills needed by tense people who can not relax enough to fall asleep. A most important value of the bath is its action on ones circulation, especially circulation to the skin in the tiny capillaries, veins and arteries that carry beauty and new life to every cell, Bathing draws away tension and congestion from inner organs by changing the temperature and length of a baths to showers. My object is not to argue the superiority of baths to showers. My object is to point out that humanity hasn’t enough pleasure in ordinary activities. One of our dominant needs is to bring art into daily life, to lift day by day the routine happenings to a higher level, to get out of little things the pleasure they can yield.
