The Homecoming
I thought the article “The Homecoming” by Matraca Lawrence was very heart touching. She describes that her dad is in the Air force and she hasn't seen him in seven months. She is nervous that her dad wont recognize her. “Mixed emotions and confusing half thoughts fill my mind. Doubt. Excitement. Trepidation. Happiness. Fear. Thankfulness. Panic.” I like how the author expressed how she felt instead of just saying one word that describes it.
What I really liked about this piece is that the author stays on task the whole time. It really touched my heart when she says that “ I am suddenly trying hard not to cry, but tears slide down my face anyway.” Like the author one of my relatives is in the air force too. I always like to see military families reunited again.
