I can relate to Veronica Kowalski's poem, “Funeral” when she explains her feelings of guilt. I had the misfortune of attending a lot of funerals this past year, most of them for close family members. As Veronica summarizes the growing pain of losing somebody, I remember my own suffering. It's not easy saying good-bye to someone you love and I've noticed that I can't help but feel sorry for those who had passed.
Life is short and when it ends, it affects everyone regardless of whether it's due to disease, drugs, suicide, or an accident. It all hurts in the end. People often ignore the fact that we too will have to face the loss of somebody. Thank you, Veronica, for exposing the hidden feelings that come with the death of someone you know.
