A Different Picture
It’s the girl you called ugly, disgusting, fat
And the boy you punched in the face
It’s the soul you scarred for a lifetime
And the heart you ripped into broken, shattered pieces
It’s the mind you filled with rage and anger
And from that person you drew out a purposeful breath of life
And this is how far you have pushed them
With those cunning name-calling and scoffs
With your gestures meant to mock and intimidate the living thing out of a person
With your relentless kicking and punching
But the picture does not have to be painted this way
Choose to stop those hearts from bleeding
Stop those tears from rolling off their cheeks
Stop those people from fearing
Stop those thoughts of killing
Plaster a beaming smile on a face and never take it down
Lend a hand and never let that go
Break down walls of destruction and build friendship bridges
Speak words that make one whole and not break one into pieces
Choose to love and not abhor
And you shall marvel at that magnificently conceived and painted picture
