In a Dream: Hope
I opened my eyes to find more darkness. I heard nothing besides the sound of my breath. I sat up and hit my head on the wall above me and when I tried to stretch out my legs, another wall blocked them. I could feel fear building up inside me. I thrashed around hoping that the walls would budge, but they only seemed to close in on me more. My heart raced as I desperately cried out even though I knew nothing could hear me.
My fear turned into hopelessness and I began to cry. I cried until I ran out of tears and then I began to calm down. I realized that crying could not help. I began to think about the walls, not as an enemy, but as fact.
As I thought, rays of light started to shine through the walls that surrounded me. I started to feel relief as the light swallowed the darkness and I began to see the outside world. I saw the clouds first with the crisp blue sky behind them.
