Love in the Elevator
It's 6 O'clock, will I see him? The new tenant on the 13th Floor. Me and him get to ride to the 12th Floor before we part ways. The first time we met was 6 months ago on move in day. I was getting on the elevator and someone yelled and said “Hold the door please!” He had a couple of boxes in his hand. Thanks, he said. I said “you're welcome.” We stared into each other's eyes. For a moment I felt paralyzed by his piercing blue eyes. Then I hear, by the way, my name is Calvin. What is your name? I’m Tonya. Nice to meet you . moving in? He says yes I’m renting an apartment on the 13th floor. Cool, I heard the view is beautiful from that floor. He responds and says, “yes, it's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.” Maybe one day we could share the view together over dinner. I mean if you aren’t busy or anything. I’m not going to lie, the offer sounds good, but you know the type cute, muscles, and eyes. But I wasn’t going to let him try to play me because he had a beautiful view. I just smiled and said, “maybe we will see, but nice to meet you Calvin, see you around.” In reality, my heart was pounding. I couldn’t wait to call and tell my best friend about the hottie on the 13th floor. 6 O’clock as I approach the elevator, I receive a whiff of a cool refreshing cologne.
It's the smell that stops you in your tracks upon the smell. I turned to see where that beautiful smell was coming from. Wouldn’t I know it, Mr. Blue eyed Calvin. He says, “Hello, Ms. Tonya. How was your day?” It was stressful and tiring, but that’s work for you. “You look nice!” I said. How was your day? With his eyes and that smile, he looked into my eyes, and said meetings, after meetings, but I guess that is the way the business world works. “Always business but no play.” I laughed so hard in my mind. But he couldn’t tell, I had that serious look as we continued our conversation on the elevator ride. For 6 months now, Calvin and I have met each other at the same time in the elevator everyday. For that moment in time nothing else mattered. It's like when we step in the elevator time stops. We just talk and talk! It feels like neverending until we reach the 12th floor. We know so much about each other except it's ok to play without all the business. Well one day I got the shock of my life. It was just like any other day. As always me and my buddy meet at the elevator with smiles and hugs. We both are just anxious to talk about the day. As always we are riding and just talking away.
Calvin was a good person and very easy to talk to. He always had the best personality and worked hard. Not knowing it when the elevator stops, I go to give Calvin a hug and say goodnight. I turn to see the most beautiful view your heart could desire. Calvin had decorated his apartment with lights and rose petals leading the patio. The patio was beautifully decorated as the lights and view of the city glowed in the moonlight. I was in shock about what I had to say. This was the best feeling. I said “Calvin what is this?” He said, “For 6 months this elevator has brought us closer and closer everyday. I have gained a best friend as well as someone who is very special to me. So, I thought maybe on our 6th month anniversary we would open the elevator doors together, together we can explore the world. My heart just melted as we kissed in the moonlight. That night truly was the most beautiful view in the world.
