Police Officer is the Murderer
Five months ago, Wimberley City had an infamous murderer killed a few people across a few weeks, which caused many families days of grief. Since the start of the killing, the role of Bureau of Investigations had been taken by Officer Olivia Evelyn Parker. The leader of the serial killer investigation had also been taken by Officer Parker.
June 5th. The first murder occurred during the daytime. 15 year old Brandon McClacken was tied up and bleeding to death in a dumpster. She was only found a few days later, by a dumpster diver, rotting and covered in bugs.
June 29th. 37 year old Alison Monroe was going for a stroll in the woods after dinner. Alone. His parents knew he was there, which made them worried when he didn’t return later that night. Murdered. A slit across the throat. A stab wound in the chest. The knife the killer left seemed oddly familiar to the officers, but they couldn't place it.
July 4th. During the fireworks show, 14 year old Jason Smith slinked off to relieve himself behind a tree. He was found the next day, shot dead, straight through the chest. When he was found, the elderly woman who stumbled upon him had a heart attack from the shock. The bullet, embedded into a nearby tree, helped produce a list of suspects for the murder.
Officer Olivia Parker just stepped out of the car into the newest crime scene when another car, identical to the one she just got out of, pulled up. A few of her colleagues hopped out and, with cuffs on, brought her to a detention facility.
Turns out, the bullet used to kill Jason Smith had little owners, one of which is Parker. In addition, the knife used to stab Alison Monroe belonged to WCPD officers, so the only logical answer was Parker. All of this evidence stacked upon her, she was sentenced to many years in jail.

For this set piece, I decided to try out using irony correctly in a story. I used situational irony, which means that the result is something unexpected. In my set piece, the unexpected thing is that the police officer leading murder investigations was the murderer.
