Sitting in a café, she looks around. Her friends are laughing, celebrating. My birthday is today. I am fifty-three years old. Damn. What happened? I am fifty-three and I fit nowhere. Even here, they are closer to each other than to me. They fit perfectly, while I do not. I smile, laugh, put a light in my eyes, and not a single person notices. I lock away who I am and I show who I have become over time. They see a strong, energetic woman. We laugh, make our way to our cars, and return home. They all have husbands, children. I dream of the day when my love comes back and holds me in his arms. My visions make me happy, and I dance for my joy. I sing to the heavens, and I dream.
