“Do it. I dare you.” She stood there, with a pained, sad look on her face, tears slowly dripping out of her eyes. The door was shut and the room and walls seemed to close in on her. She slowly sunk to the ground, her feet giving way underneath her. Quietly, she sobbed, her face hidden in her arms. I can’t do this, she murmured.

“Do it. I dare you.” Alone with her thoughts, they seemed to never end.  Feelings of misery and aloneness seemed to engulf her in the tightest hug and suffocate her. I’m here, a voice whispered. I won’t let you go. She tried to break free, struggling against the tightness. At last, she gave up, and the tension was released. Panting, crying, and overwhelmed, she ran. 

“Do it. I dare you.” She didn’t care where she went. I won’t let you go, the voice said again. I’m here. The alleys filled with tiny shops and red-brick walls were a blur as she ran, her legs pumping. At last, she reached a bridge railing. The metal railing brushed against her sweaty palms as she slowly climbed up the fence and perched herself on top. I’m here, the voice said again. I won’t let you go. She peered downwards at the deep, never-ending blue ocean; the shiny moonlight reflecting in the vast waters.  The ocean stared back, its rippling waves crashing onto the shore, calling out to her.

“Do it. I dare you.” She took a deep breath and was about to jump when suddenly, a thought came into her mind. What are you doing? You have no reason to live. But then another thought appeared. One incident can’t change you forever. You have to move on. The second thought convinced her. She took a deep breath, and slowly climbed down from the railing. She collapsed onto the ground, her chest heaving. And slowly, she got up, and trudged home, exhausted from the night’s event. I’m here. I won’t let you go.
