August 2022 Fiction Contest: A Knightly Duel
Blow after blow, both knights fought valiantly. They were fighting for honor and glory. They were fighting for a chance to enter into the king’s personal guard. Their swords glinted in the daylight as the audience cheered them on. Both were also quite tired. Their muscles ached and foreheads sweaty. One of the knights swung their weapon and missed, burying their sword into the wooden stands. The second knight punched the first knight’s head and sent him into unconsciousness. The first knight fell and the crowd went wild. The second knight grinned under his helmet. The king’s assassination would be easy.
