DEAD SPACE 2 REVIEW: By Ryan Barber
It’s been 3 years since the first Dead Space game was released. But ,now can the sequel of the successful franchise surpass the first game?


PRESENTATION
It’s been 3 years since Isaac Clarke survived the necromorph (re-animated dead bodies) outbreak on the USG ISHIMURRA (space ship) and destroyed the marker (somehow related to the necromorphs) . In the beginning of Dead Space 2 Isaac finds himself on a space station near Saturn called the Sprawl. He finds out right away that another necromorph outbreak has started and that another marker has been made and that he made it, but he has no memory of it, now he must battle his way to the marker to destroy it and the necromorphs aren’t his only enemy’s. Isaac is being tracked down by Director Tiedemann the one who let the necromorph outbreak happen and is part of Earth’s government, he doesn’t care about all the family's that the necromorphs killed all he care about is studying the marker and it’s secrets. Isaac is battling himself as well as he has to deal with the loss of his girlfriend Nicole who died during the necromorph outbreak on the USG ISHIMURA and Isaac’s the one who encouraged her to go on the ship before they got rid of it, he didn't know she was going to die. Now, he has to deal with dementia and visions of his dead girlfriend, the visions he’s having of her are of her dead and she has glowing eyes and she talks in an sort of angry voice.


GAMEPLAY

The gameplay of dead space 2 is something that true hardcore gamers would call “special” and I know this because I’m a hardcore gamer myself. The graphics are so realistic, the necromorphs will scare the crap out of you, and the zero-g (zero-gravity) movement is so much fun: WARNING ZERO-G MOVEMENT CAN BECOME ADDICTIVE. While your playing the game you’ll get overrun a couple of times by the necromorphs, that’s where you have to strategize on how to kill all of them. If you die it’s worth it, because the way they kill you is just so amazing (I never thought I’d say that, but its true). There are so many ways to kill the necromorphs one is with the plasma cuter (or other guns) or you can shot of their limbs and use the telekinesis module in your suit to impale them. Now, when I say the storyline is great I mean it. The story will keep you on the edge of your seat as it feels like your watching a horror movie, it has so many twists and turns, the cinematic's look similar to gameplay, the cast is alive and life like, and as I said before, the graphics are freaking amazing.


MULTIPLAYER
When I first played the multiplayer, it was fun at first, but then it got boring. Now, everybody knows that there’s two things that make a game exciting: 1, An Awesome single player campaign. 2, An Awesome multiplayer and this game fails in this. I’m sorry if I made any of you question me, but here's my reason, the multiplayer has only 2 game modes that you can play…..sure it’ll be fun at first and you’ll have fun playing as human or necromorph, but since the multiplayer has only 2 game modes you’ll start to get tired of it and stick with the single player campaign, which is fine, because that’s where the game really shines.


FINAL
If you’re reading this then that means we’ve reached the end of my review. Now, don't get me wrong when I say Dead Space 2 is a game to keep. Sure, the multiplayer is a bit of a disappointment , but the single player is a one to remember. The single player is just awesome, in fact so awesome I can’t even put it into words. The dlc for the game will be awesome, like that new one that was just released Dead Space 2: Severed. In the end this game should be nominated for game of the year at the VGA’s (video game awards) this year. Also, if an awesome director like the guy who made the resident evil movies or some other director that makes good movies decides to make this awesome game into a movie, it’ll get at least 4 stars and top the box office.
