Untitled Goose Game for the Nintendo Switch is a simulation puzzle game where the player waddles around a small town as a horrible white goose. As the townspeople live out their day, it is the player’s mission to terrorize them. From honking loudly to stealing someone’s keys, the ways of messing with people is as limitless as the player’s imagination. Starting in the garden, the player must complete missions to advance to the next three areas, all while being able to return to previous locations. The game’s simple concept yet boundless possibilities allows for hours of fun. 

Untitled Goose Game is only single player, but multiplayer could possibly come as future DLC (downloadable content). As a goose, there are only four controls. Press “A” to interact with objects or to pick them up and drop them, hold “B” while moving the joystick to run, press “Y” to honk, and my personal favorite, press “R” to flap your wings. Flapping your wings does nothing to the world around you, its sole purpose is to make the game more immersive. Controls and gameplay are simple enough for any player no matter their skill level. Beginners and experts alike can enjoy the experience of being a goose with no setbacks. 

Missions can be viewed in a check-list format, where each one is crossed out as it is completed. The game offers a large amount of missions, with bonus challenges and rewards for completing them all. Some missions give you creative ways to bother the townspeople, while others just simply give you something fun and challenging to do in the village. Each one is creative and very well thought out. They range from simple, one-step missions like stealing the gardener’s hat as he bends over to plant a flower, to complex multi-step puzzles like figuring out how to lock the shopkeeper in her garage. 

The mechanics of the game are all tied together beautifully with strong visuals and audio. The games simple cartoony style is very pleasing to look at. The character design is very well done, and even though townspeople lack faces, emotions and personalities are portrayed well through their design. Soft, classical piano plays quietly in the background while you make your way around. This music sets the mood for the quiet peaceful town that you find yourself in. As the peace is broken with honks and acts of mischief, the quiet piano becomes fast, loud, and hectic to reflect the broken peace. 

No game is perfect, however, as there are some downfalls to Untitled Goose Game. The game can get repetitive, since completing missions over and over again can become rather mundane. Some missions can also become laborious, and feel like more of a chore than something fun to do in the town. These flaws are minor and can be easily avoided if the game is played in moderation, and not all at once. Like in all games it is good to take breaks so that the game remains fresh and fun each time you play. 

Overall, Untitled Goose Game for the Nintendo Switch is a great experience worth anyone’s time. No matter the skill level, any player can relax and enjoy the experience of being a horrible goose with ease. From well thought out missions to beautifully designed landscapes and characters, Untitled Goose Game will provide hours of entertainment for anyone who decides to play it.
