Witch and Wizard by James Patterson
Have you felt that you’re in a terrible dream and later realizing that the dream was actually a reality? Witch and Wizard by James Patterson tells a story of two teenage siblings who have mysterious magic powers. Patterson is largely known for his novels about fictional psychology. The author’s overall message is that most journey’s lead back to home.
Witch and Wizard takes place in a gloomy area called Overworld. Two teenagers, Whit and Wisty, are taken from their homes and are imprisoned for reasons unknown to them. They later learn that they were sent away because of the mystical powers they possessed. For example, Wisty Allgood, a powerful flame wizard, has the ability to engulf her whole body in fire. Whit Allgood, a mystical wizard, has the power to travel between dimensions. Now their goal is to escape and save their family from the N.O. also known as the New Order, a society that Whit and Wisty are rebelling against to prevent them from turning the world as they know it into a chaotic planet.

Witch and Wizard is a story told with just the right words. For example, Patterson uses modern-day slang, which helps teen readers get more engaged in the book and find humor in his stories. For example he writes “that’s a bunch of B.S.” When I read this line it made me laugh because I’ve never seen that in a book before. I believe Witch and Wizard is worth reading because it brings readers into a new world of reading. I think young readers 12 years old and up who would really enjoy books like graphic novels and science fiction.
