Where the Heart Is Billie Letts
“Can't you feel that tiny little bomp… bomp… bomp? -- That's where the heart is.”
Billie Letts' rich and compelling novel, Where the Heart Is, takes place in the small country town of Sequoyah, Oklahoma, where the seventeen-year old, seven months pregnant, Novalee Nation is left at the Wal-Mart by her boyfriend, Willy Jack Pickens. With only $7.77 in her pocket, and nowhere else to go, Novalee finds a home in a bunch of kindhearted strangers who show her “where the heart is.”
Billie Letts uses an incredible writing technique to captivate the reader, along with amazing detail and description of the classic country town and its warmhearted characters, such as Sister Husband, Forney Hull, and Lexie Coop. I would definitely recommend this book to thirteen-year old girls and older. I am sure anyone who reads this book will immediately fall in love with its humor and country romance. So find out more in Where the Heart Is.
