The Hunger Games


Suzanne Collins made #1 New York Times Best Seller List for 66 weeks in a row with her book The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is an amazing book because it goes into every little detail in everything. I didn’t want to read this book because it didn’t look good from the cover, but then my friend told me it was a good book and so I got it. I could not even sit the book down I just wanted to find out what was going to happen next. The Hunger Games is about 12 districts and a capitol. The 12 districts don’t have very much food but all provide for the capitol. Every year the capitol throws a game called The Hunger Games for entertainment. They chose a boy and a girl from every district and let make them go into these games. You have to kill each other till one person is standing. The two main characters in this book are Katniss and Peeta. They are the two people who go into the games. Katniss hates the capitol with a fiery passion. When they were choosing the names of the people to go into the games Katniss’s little sister actually got chosen but Katniss volunteered as a tribute so her little sister didn’t have to go in. Katniss and Peeta were known for the girl and boy who were on fire because when they entered the award show their costumes flamed up. Peeta was really strong but not many people knew he was super strong. Katniss knew how to shoot a bow-n-arrow. Katniss and Peeta went into the games. Peeta teamed up with a group and they tried to find Katniss but peeta kept leading them away from her. Katniss met a little girl named rue. Everyone in the games killed each other the only two people that were left were Peeta and Katniss. The capitol told them that 2 people could win so when Peeta and Katniss won they told them there could only be one winner. So Katniss pulled out these poisonous berries and gave some to Peeta she didn’t want one of them to leave without the other one. Right as they were about to eat the berries they said they could have two winners. So Katniss and Peeta had won. When they got home they lived in this place called victors village. And this was these homes set up for only victors from the Hunger Games. There were only 3 people who had actually won the games, so there weren’t that many people that lived in these homes. The people who had won the games had all the money they need. After the games Peeta and Katniss had to act like lovers because it helped them in the games and it had to stay that way. That is most of the action that happens in the first book if you want to know more you will just have to read the book.
