Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
In the story Thirteen Reasons Why Hannah Baker has just committed suicide before the novel begins before she dies, she pre records tapes for the thirteen people who influenced her suicide asking them to pass them on. It lands in the hands of Hannah’s crush Clay Jensen who takes the journey of listening to the tapes and following the map that she provided. He’s exploring her short life in the small town and feeling everything she felt that led to the tragic death. The story is an emotional roller coaster full of suspense that will have you feeling sympathetic to the puzzled boy as Clay tries to make sense of where he fits in her story. This book is great for young adults and teens as its message portrays the harmful affects of bullying. If you enjoyed Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson then you should definitely read this book.
