Siege and Storm Book Review
Book Review Storm and Siege
(Disclaimer: This book is the second in the series, therefore I would seriously suggest that one reads the first book in the series Shadow and Bone.) Storm and Siege by Leigh Bardugo let's talk about it. Overall my opinion on this book is that it is a book with an excellent plot, and an amazing ability to make one want to turn every page eager to keep reading. The book is an excellent example of a mix of emotions, relationships, action/conflict, and drama. Something that I will also like to note is that the overall theme of the book which I believe is to be a mix of the importance of loyalty and always having one's back. What I am trying to get at is that the theme is not pushed throughout the book, and truthfully this is just the one theme that I noticed. When the book is so diverse in a sense that there are more than several themes that could be picked by different readers who picked up on different things, which I believe is a result of the variety of characters and each story they all have. This is another reason why I seriously recommend this book as an option for all readers, like I mentioned it is a very diverse book encompassing all different types of action, emotions, love in a way, relationships, and conflict. It does not start off slow which I think is important for a reader to really get into the book. Right away we jump into the story and find out more as we read (of course having some background knowledge it being the second book and all). Another thing that Iw ould like to point out about this book is the variety of characters, there are all different types of characters ones who play essential roles of hero and villain. Yet there are also big side roles that do not stick to the typical storybook. Let's not stay one-sided, every book has its flaws, and Storm and Siege was no exception. The book is sometimes predictable to one who reads enough which can take the excitement out of reading a book. Also, I said that the book jumps right into the story like a moving train. However, it keeps this pace throughout the whole book even getting faster sometimes which can be hard for anybody to understand or keep track of. Sometimes, even though I would still say that this book is hands down a page-turner through some of the chapters it does feel like a chore just to figure out a minuscule detail. Yet other than that I can not really pick out any more flaws for I love the book so much. Overall this book is an amazing read that would be fun and exciting for all types of readers, and I one hundred percent recommend it.
