When My Mom and Dad were engaged, one of the things they did together was read The Lord of the rings by JRR Tolkien. When my Mom was pregnant with me, the watched all the movies AND the many hours of commentary. My parents are big fans of this series and that makes me one too. But I also enjoy it for my own reasons which I will soon tell. The Lord of the rings is a great book for anyone who likes a powerful story with thrilling action with an important message behind it.

One of the main concepts of the book is action and adventure. The characters travel through many different diverse areas encountering many dangers and pleasures. One of these is the town of Rivendell, in which the small band of weary travelers rests up for the long voyage ahead. This is where the Ranger Aragorn meets his love interest Arwen, who is an elf. They want to get married, but it's a hard decision because if they do get married Arwen will become mortal. I personally don’t enjoy Romance, but in this book, it is an element but only a small one, so It doesn’t dominate the story, but is still there for certain people to enjoy. There is also the aspect of magic, in the case of the dark and evil Lord Sauron, or the wise and generous wizard Gandalf, whom I admire, however; it doesn’t overwhelm the rest of the book either.

The poetic language really assisted in enriching the thrill in this novel. One of my favorite quotes from The Lord of the rings is “It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.” -Bilbo, The Lord of the rings. there are many other inspirational quotes like this throughout the book, which I love because of how they keep a good vibe and give good advice that can be helpful in life. Another aspect of the language in this book that I like is the poetry usage in the book. Many of the quotes and songs in The Lord of the rings have beautiful poetry in them that helps people imagine whatever the quotes or songs are describing or feel whatever they’re feeling. One of the best parts of the story is the fact that the whole history and culture of everyone and everything is deeply rooted and really gets the reader into the book because they can see the work that JRR Tolkien put into this elaborate work of art.

This book also has practical purposes and isn’t just for entertainment. It teaches three important lessons that can help anyone to be a better person. The first is the importance of friendship. In this book, there are two intense enemies that throughout the story become close friends. There is an elf named Legolas and a dwarf named Gimli. Their species have had a rivalry for hundreds of years, and their friendship was necessary for the success of the mission. It also made a statement to the rest of the world that we can appreciate others no matter their history or ethnicity. The third lesson is the overall moral of the story, which is if someone strives for what they want, they will get it. Though it may be hard, perseverance is the key to achieving goals.

The Lord of the rings, By JRR Tolkien, is my all-time favorite book. Even before I was born I was experiencing this very inspiring, imaginative, and exciting classic. I will continue to cherish the powerful way it communicates important lessons through action and adventure. It was beautifully written, and I would recommend it to anyone.
