A Boom from the Ocean

Wahoo! The day has finally arrived for joy, fun, and celebration for the 17th year of my life. Gifts are amazing, generous, and the best; yet, there is something that excites me just as much. It being my birthday means that it is also time for a birthday dinner. Time for my family to dip our taste buds into the heart of the ocean for a tasty meal.

The beaming sun flashes into my eyes as I wake up on day with delicate snowflakes falling from the heavens. I make my way downstairs for another day of school. The school day goes by quicker than normal, jogging along into the afternoon. Me and my siblings vanish off to our activities as usual for a good chunk before the evening. Coming home from my activities is when I start to become inquisitive. What are my mom and dad getting me? What are my grandparents getting me? When I come inside, my parents say that we are going somewhere, but they do not tell me where. I then start to think of all the things and places we could go. We venture off, and make our way for about 20 minutes, which is when I realize we are going to my favorite restaurant. The Crab Shack.

Sitting down at the table, I can not wait much longer as I drool over the idea of pounds of seafood. Shortly after, the food arrives. I am greeted with a steamy, a few ticks above room temperature bag of 1 lb. of crawfish, 1 lb. of shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage. Yum! The smell of this strikes my nose causing me to think of the taste of Caribbean air. I first grabbed a shrimp doused in boom boom sauce. The perfectly boiled shrimp smacks my taste buds with a plethora of very strong, colorful shapes popping up in my mind. The crawfish is up next. The tail perfectly curled into its body is shortly ripped off to juices dripping out, boom sauce quickly replacing the juices, and falls out the shell like lime juice when squeezing a lime. All I can think is how I have reached the peak of life at this moment getting so much pleasure and satisfaction from my food. To top it all off, I latch onto a near perfectly circular potato. As I crunched into it, it pops like a gusher does in your mouth. A cloud of steam sprints into your mouth filled with the spices it was coated in to than the inside of soft, rich potatoes. So soft, it is almost like mashed potatoes.

Wow! The day has been completed. The food wrapped up the whole day like how a tortilla does in a burrito!
