A Friend
They smile to tell the world they are alright
Keeping their feelings hidden deep inside
They smile through the day but then late at night
They shed their tears and let go of their pride
Every morning they awake from their dreams
Hoping that the stress will just let them be
They try to create a peaceful daydream
But find that it is unnecessary
For there is always a hand reaching out
Pulling them out of their darkest nightmare
There’s always someone they can’t live without
And they can count on a friend to be there
Their friends are what they are all thankful for
And they never ask for less or for more
