There Once Was A Girl
There once was a girl, she hid behind her door,
Though the walls couldn’t block the sound;
When her mother cried and her father swore,
Another empty bottle hit the ground.
There once was a girl who didn’t love herself,
She felt too ugly, too big, too brawn.
She looked at the picture up on her shelf,
The old her’s dead and gone.
There once was a girl who gave her heart,
She let her happiness be held by one;
He was selfish, he tore it apart,
She was tired, she was hurt, she was done.
There once was a girl, but not anymore,
She was damaged, she was broken, but now she’ll soar.
