Greed
Your fingers grasp the greasy golden coin;
your gnarled hands caress primitive sin.
A circle of bleeders is where you join;
bathe in the flames of fire you jump in.
Your broken mind leads you toward dying light;
your crooked grin watches a narrow sky.
Stillborn ideas grow wings to take flight;
your ebony tears plummet as they cry.
Shameless joy espouses your withered soul;
hollowed thoughts engulf your corrupted heart.
Never thinking once of paying a toll;
for the path of evil this is the start.
On the crumbling road of life take great heed;
there is nothing worse than the claws of greed.

Human nature is strange, and greed is a powerful desire. I wanted to convey the evilness of greed through this sonnet.
