Impasse

Equal, but different, the dove said they would be
Thus, they knew not why
He was of the sky
And she of the soil and the sea

They held the future’s key
Enkindling the world with new light
She longed for embrace in the night
And he simply wished to fly free

And so, the battle began
Between woman and man
Two beings of opposite poles
Their natures warring for control
An everlasting game, of even strength and guile
And somewhere in the trees, the dove wears a sly smile
