The Race
A whiz kid they say
Will do wonders someday
They filled her ears with bubbles of hope
And left her standing in invisible ropes
Trapped she is by what should be
She is blind to what will be
Stuck between expectations
Accustomed to a lack of regulations
She was unprepared for being rejected
When it happened she could not be collected
How will she achieve
When she lacks the ability to grieve
She can be struck down by one "no"
Where does that leave room to grow
Smart, though she was
She did not know what the world does
She believed she was alone
A genius on a golden throne
Now she has opened her eyes to the world around
And did not like what she found
The universe is a competitive place
She was not fast enough for the race
