As It Always Is
My skin is dull and gray
That’s all it seems to be
And when I look across the bay
I know he’s looking back at me
The lighthouse glimmers far away
and I watch it from my seat
It’s pleading for me to stay
But I have someone I must meet
The water pools across my knees
The wind flees over my skin
The voices echo in a breeze
and I release my grin
Somewhere deep inside of me
I feel just slightly sad
For when I go across the sea
I’ll leave what I never had
