Childhood Dog
She used to be one to greet forever
never known a life without that wagging
was on death row until we saved her
from cages where eyes are always dragging
close to face doom with a needle near
sitting quietly she was the one to
come home with us to have a home no fear
to not die in that cell in the dog zoo
my child’s eyes gleamed at my new canine
the best dog anyone could ask for in life
always listened always she had the time
forever loved time can’t suffice
somehow I never had time for my dog
she grew old as I grew up, now she’s gone
