Where Parallel Lines Meet
We used to be two parallel lines who were fated not to meet,
traveling in straight paths alongside one another, not to meet.
We would travel in the same direction and at the same speed,
but distance was always between us and so we failed to meet.
As time progressed, our lines tried to curve to close the space
between them, change parallel to intersecting, in order to meet.
Yet, on this insane coordinate system of fate, we were as close
to infinity as we were far, a grade year apart, not meant to meet.
It appeared that in a world full of rapid changes, we were the only two
constants, two parallel lines who would seemingly never come to meet.
But, through a chance encounter on a sunny afternoon in August, we reached a
rare point called infinity, where the heart lies, the place for parallel lines to meet.
