Majesty (Petrarchan Sonnet)
-She keeps her secrets hidden deep and dark
-Mysterious in her fathoms unknown.
-The poor damned souls of sailors she has thrown
-To the dead eyes and white teeth of the shark.
-In a storm of rage she shall take back the spark
-Of life, given to men but in a loan.
-Drowning always in waters cold as stone,
-Are the sunken bones of ships, bleached stark.
-Yet in her great temper is majesty,
-And a challenge issued to those of men
-Brave enough to embark upon her waves.
-Like a bird who longs to be wholly free,
-So their hearts long to set sail once again.
-It is the beautiful sea their soul craves.
