The sun has fallen right out of the sky
A puddle of darkness around has spread
Over the hills on which my smiles lie
My joys are bones on which foul beasts have fed
Your loss must be my final casualty
Our friendship is a dull corpse living here
We try to give it breath adequately
We try to ignore our unspoken fears
And with unmeasurable love it works!
Secrets and stories told with a giggle
We stamp out opposition where it lurks
A sisterly love is not so fickle
You are like a limb I cannot quite lose
That would be worse than tightening a noose.

The author's comments:
I have a best friend who moved a few months ago. She has been like a sister to me for many years, and it feels very odd to have her gone. She was one of the only people I could really talk to. We keep in touch, but I miss her.
