Eighth Grade; A Shakespearean Sonnet
In late August a new school year began,
Putting all thoughts of summer out of mind,
And though of school I was not a big fan,
Sadly I could not to summer rewind.
I got off the bus and walked into school,
Dreading long days full of torment to come.
I searched for friends, each face a welcome jewel,
Hoping an outcast I would not become.
And though I was plainly so terrified
I tried to stifle my all too real fear
Because I realized if I had not tried
To get through the years I would not be here.
So I put on a smile to fool everyone,
Hoping the battle this year could be won.
