Sonnet of the Blind Years
I was born one day as queen of my night,
Where I was drowned of all visible light.
How long did I have to stay my own knight
Before the sun shined and the moon glowed bright?
On three legs I took a long stroll among
A frigid nowhere--the place I belonged,
A flat land to sing this frivolous song
Of five score years I had lasted in long.
It's been forever; I finally see
A plateau of light, what had made me plea.
I put the century inside of me;
It is time I let myself stagger free.
I took a step and was gone to the world.
Sending adieus to life, my wings unfurled.
